| We aim to provide our residents
with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their identity,
well being and comfort are of prime importance.
We recognise that the person is often
part of an extended family and that these family ties remain a
vital part of the person’s life and must be maintained wherever
they live. The family will be supported and their needs met through
a positive relationship with the Home.
Our aims and objectives are based
on recognised best practice as recommended by the Alzheimer’s
Society and through research findings such as those promoted by
Professor Tom Kitwood.
Person-centred care is at the core
of our culture. Everything we do is focused around the person,
the reality they are experiencing and the behaviour that this
causes. We believe that expressions of behaviour, which are often
described as challenging or difficult, are an attempt to communicate
and that it is up to us to interpret them.
St Andrews Care Homes’ management
team has over 15 years experience in long-term residential dementia
care principally with older people and now with those under 65.
We pride ourselves in offering a highly professional service with
a personal touch.
All care
staff within the Homes will be appropriately qualified or undergoing
suitable training. This ensures that our high standards are maintained
in line with the latest developments in Care Practices and as
may be laid down in appropriate Legislation and Regulations by
The Commission for Social Care Inspection.
St Andrews Care Homes was recognised
with the Investors in People award in January 2001 and reaccredited
in January 2004 for demonstrating our commitment to the development
of our staff.
Through
the staff and the design of the Homes we aim to provide support
to a wide range of people with a dementia and other conditions.
